He was a pos boyfriend. Dani is free of her fears now. Free of the abandonment issues. She now has a family who will love her, and apparently Pelle already wants her.. Something I found interesting was how when Dani was wailing in pain on Christian's lap, after her family trauma, she's ALONE. He's there, but she's really alone in those feelings. Cut to Sweden- and when Dani is freaking out and experiencing anxiety, she has a group of women crying WITH her. Screaming in pain with her. That's what she needed the whole time, someone to scream with her pain. Now she's surrounded by love and has fully gone over the edge, giving in to her beautiful madness.

Male nudity isn’t really in a lot of horror movies, other than man ass every now and again.

Hate his character but he is such a great actor and the full frontal nudity was the best part.

The movie was great but seeing him running around naked and penis made it better.

What's bad about Christian is he didn't have the guts to make a difficult call in a difficult situation, but that doesn't make him awful. His girlfriend's family dies right when he is ready to call the relationship off, but because that's too difficult for him to do, he does the wrong thing and drags her through more pain by being completely disinterested in her but still choosing to keep her around. You can't fault him for not being interested in the relationship anymore, that's his call, but you can fault him for not stepping up and making the tough call to just end the relationship, thus saving her from more emotional pain. You also can't fault him for "cheating" on Dani, as he was drugged and raped into doing so. But I don't think there is anything particularly egregious about his character.

Christian is a significantly flawed boyfriend trapped in a dysfunctional relationship with a severely traumatized woman. Contrary to the general rap on Christian, he is not a gaslighting monster. I find it disturbing that so many commentators are so quick to condemn Christian for not being supportive of Dani, but have no problem with Dani being a murderous girlfriend who sentences Christian to die by fire--paralyzed & burned alive--for his infidelity under the influence of psychedelics, which were given him under false pretenses by an evil cult that Dani voluntarily joins. Dani has been through hell, no mistake, but in no way does that excuse her over-the-top vicious murder of Christian. Their relationship was emotionally damaging for Dani, but it was literally fatal for Christian, & in the most horrible manner imaginable, while Dani carries on with impunity as the queen of her new insidious family. Dani, not Christian, is the monster of the two.

I suspect these plain facts would be evident to commentators if the male/female roles were reversed. (BTW, both actors were terrific.)

@simonpenum Interesting observation. Outsiders are often too quick to advise their friend to break up with their partner, even when they don't know all the relevant facts, and of course, they're not the ones who have to live with the consequences of the breakup.

Dani and Christians relationship is actually one of the pure things in the film. Despite each of their support groups telling them their partner is bad for them they persist. It takes the outside force of the cult to eventually tear them apart

I have to say, I've seen Jack having to deal with some pretty dreadful and uninspired interviewers - and this is one of them - but he still manages to make it into an insightful conversation. I love the perspective about how Christian met this humiliating fate and lack of control that is usually reserved to the female character (including the nudity!).

Also, am I the only one who did not find the film to be funny? Amusing at times just because of the sheer audacious events unfolding on the screen, but not FUNNY.... I wish this dude approached the film and the interview from a more serious stance.

To be honest, I wasn't a fan of the movies that he was a part of a while ago. But since that was a few years ago and he was still in his early twenties, I found that he has grown a lot more as an actor and his personality really shows in this interview. I'll definitely be looking more into his works in the future.

I will hit up those movies, Paris Texas and Harakiri, as well as appreciate the general thoughts about film and existence. The note about even prestige of horror movies is very on point, let's just look at the cast for IT Chapter II. This mentioned 10 year period mostly started with a long appreciation through a dedicated crowd, went through Teenie Horror to the masses and slowly graduated from slashers and halloween movies into what we see today. It's still a pretty mixed genre though. Horror in blistering sunlight is nice to watch for sure. Thanks for a YT Video apart from the usual more superficial marketing efforts.

This interviewer is awful. He was talking about how ‘funny’ the nude scene was, and it’s like you can see the actor wanting to tell him that’s nowhere near where that is suppose to take you. The scene was suppose to be taking the trope of vulnerable nudity that woman are always portraying in horror films and flip it on its head for once. It wasn’t meant to be funny, and I think it’s incredibly simple minded to just label it as comedy. He keeps digging himself deeper and deeper talking about how funny it was, and it’s incredibly cringe. Jack has spoken about why he felt really strongly about that scene, and he just straight up ignores it and continues to look him right in the face and be like “ yeah, but lol a penis lol “. It has to be really frustrating as an actor to commit to a scene like that, and have people like this completely miss the point even when literally just explained it to them.

I thought Dani was being clingy and annoying and he was in the right of how he felt until small things he did start to reveal his manipulative behavior. Then the film steered the audience to be on the side of Dani and villainize the guy.
