Thank you for this! I’ve loved Daenerys since season 1 because of her compassion and determination. She (along with many characters) was the underdog and you couldn’t help but to root for her. The infamous unsullied episode in Astapor completely won me over. That “Dracarys” still gives me chills!

It’s nice to see that people didn’t buy into the “foreshadowing” debate. For the life of me I couldn’t figure out how this was predicted based on her character arc for 7+ seasons. Regardless, I enjoyed the cinematography for this episode and have chosen to completely disregard what they’ve done to her character. I would love to see the Mad Queen, but instead we got a cartoon villain and it’s so disrespectful to her entire journey leading up to this point. They really dropped the ball on this one 🤦🏾‍♀️

In the books we get inside various characters minds and they are seething with anger over friends or family who have been killed. They remember who. They intend to kill them. Also, most deaths books or TV are some form of murder rather than impersonal combat. This isn’t Sir Walter Scott - combat is ugly. War has devestated the 7 Kingdoms so that beautiful land of Season 1 now looks like Warsaw in 1945.
Everyone killed in an act of vengeance spawns a host new avengers. This is a metaphor in the resurrection of the dead by the Night King.
Cersei killed Melissandra spawning vengeance. Neither Grey Worm nor Danerys are willing to put aside their anger. Anymore than Jon was willing to pardon the Crows who stabbed him.
Danerys and Cersi have been Doppelgängers throughout the series and in the books. During the final battle they both look sane but Danys actions and Cersi’s inactions are insane. Cersi’s reign ends in a pit like Hitler or Saddam. But otherwise both die in their incestuous lovers arms. Jon kills Danerys in a scene reminiscent of the crows killing him: barren location, “snow” falling. Killed because the changes Danerys wants to make will change the accepted way. Jon was killed because he changed the Night Watch’s relationship with the wildlings.
The wheel hasn’t been broken by this pointless war brought on by stupidity and anger. The war resolved nothing. The “realm” is based on “stories” (echoing Littlefinger). The new small council debates brothels and warships also echoing Ned Stark’s time as hand of the King.
This Song was always going to end darkly.

I’m so glad this show is over

They ruined an entire series in two episodes.

To the individual who rudely told me that I was wrong regarding my denial that the white horse was Stricklands. Please see the making of the Thrones released on HBO today. I saw today’s program a week ago on HBO Now. The program showed how they filmed the scene where the gate is blown out by fire and the Golden Company catches fire. It shows Strickland thrown off a dummy white horse that catches fire. It’s shown as a smothering carcass. Didn’t want to respond to everyone because I didn’t want to spoil it for you and others.

The books clearly say that Rhaegal is the fastest, most agile, and most aggressive of Denaerys's three dragons, even though Drogon is much bigger and stronger. Viserion was the smallest, weakest, and least aggressive.

To me, the fact that Dany never burnt innocents before is EXACTLY why it was so shocking and effective.

The white horse that was in the little girl's hand was a toy, the animal that Princess Shireen
carried was a Stag, it had antlers. I think the white horse that Arya rode out of King's Landing was maybe Harry Stricklands horse. At least Harry did some good by being at the Battle....
Was it Ser Davos who gave Princess Shireen the figure of the Stag? Canadian Lady

I dont really like season 7 and 8, but i will remember D&D for season 6 episode 9 and 10. Genius. Just love when sansa sees the vale riders destroying ramseys army. And the music in episode 10 until the sept blows up. Amazing.

When Jaime said he didn't particularly care about the people of King's Landing, I don't think he meant that literally. I think he was being sarcastic.

Arya is obviously an avatar of death in GOTs, but I doubt the show will give her another big win after she already defeated the Night King.

Jaime stabbing Euron in the stomach has zero relevance with the mad king IMO.

Why does everyone act like Dany was a saint before last episode or excuse her actions. She is (and has been) a emotionless killing machine. She believes in divine right to rule and is basically the ultimate colonizer.

                                                                        • Grandpa the Grey

All Daeny needed was Drogon to easily defeat Qyburn's Scorpions, Euron's fleet, the Golden Company of Essos, and the palace guards. Anyone contemplating regicide will have to deal with potential dragon wrath as well as a sizable Unsullied army and the Dothraki.

But even that was marred by the _idiotic_ way the writers contrived to have her brother-lover with her. Not only did she not deserve any kind of comfort in death, the way that writers unnaturally & strangely erased all the growth that Jaime made by having him abandon Brienne to go back to that witch...it was just bad writing. This entire season has been a sh*tshow.

If they had gone down this road a few seasons ago it would’ve made sense, but this season it’s clearly because they are desperately trying to wrap up their poorly put together show by giving Varys and Tyrion a thin pretext for betraying her and ALSO maybe giving Jon, Tyrion, & Arya a reason to kill her to “save” everyone from her. I’m just...disgusted.

Then the shot zooms out as Ned, his father, comes in the door from a day of work at the factory sitting down next to Aemon and saying "Geez Pop, he stares at that thing all day. I wonder what he sees when he looks at it?"
