GoT was the best show ever made.. D&D are good "adapters" but they know shit about writing. They ruined a great experience. I wish season 8 would be remade with competent writers. Or better yet, wait FOR THE BOOKS TO COME OUT and THEN remake the last three seasons.
The three-eyed-raven plot had great potential but again, D&D ruined it with their incompetence and condescendence.

I feel you. I expect more of the ending finale. Too short for the time and should have more reasonable scenes that will support it. But yeah I still love GOT..

I feel like they planned on Jamie killing Cersei originally, but when everyone figured that out, they changed their mind

D&D sold out, fucking GoT in the ass so they could go and play Star Wars producers. The show was supposed to have 2 more seasons.

your experience reminded me of how i came to like a generally hated movie thanks to personal experience.
                      some backstory is required though.
thanks to some fucking idiot, i was put in front of romero's dawn of the dead when i was just a little kid, and it scarred me deeply.
i had nightmares about zombies my whole life. i couldnt watch zombie movies at all even when i grow up.
then left 4 dead came out. i played it so much with friends online for the first two week that i had a damn lucid dream about it.
i was lucid dreaming, inside the world of left 4 dead. and it was awesome. my fear was totally gone.

                      now back to the topic.
the movie im talking about is World War Z.
i never read the book, and i knew everybody hated it, so my expectations were below zero.
then i found myself watching basically my lucid dream rolling on screen, mindblown.
and thats why i like world war z, even though is a cinematic dumpsterfire

I watched the entire show over about the last 8-10 weeks, and I totally agree with you man. I was really enjoying the finale until they randomly make Bran king as if that somehow made sense. It really did seem like they made the most random decision just for shock value.

I also agree that a lot of character decisions needed more time/episodes to really seem plausible. For example, Jon enters Tyrion's cell in the last episode completely supporting Dany, and like 20 minutes later he kills her. It would've been nice to have a few episodes (either before or after the King's Landing battle) showing Jon slowly starting to distrust Dany.

My favourite HBO show Treme got its final season cut in half probably because they wanted to spend the money on the early seasons of this show. And this is how it ended? I want five more episodes of Treme.

Season 1 to 4 were brilliant. Probably the second best TV show ever made after Sopranos.

Season 5 and 6 were huge disappointments. It was so obvious that they were out of book material. Dumb & dumber just couldn't compete with George. But it was still relatively entertaining. Like they were trying.

Season 7 and 8 were absolutely fucking terrible. They were rushed, boring, nonsensical, full of plot holes and illogical. It was insanely obvious that the writers had lost interest. They just wanted to rush the show to end it asap. So they could go make a fortune writing star wars

The moment you fucking said your favorite episode was the *battle of the basterds* I almost unsubscribed. Seriously fuck your opinion.

Are we both talking about the retarded episode with the most unrealistic battle ever? The one where Jon breaks his line and survived a cavalry charge on his own? You mean the retarded episode where Ramsey shoots rickon from 10km with a bow, in one shot. *instead of shooting fucking Jon snow and ending the war?*

The one where both Ramsey and jon use such laughable tactics, even a 11 year old rpg player would do better.

You mean the episode in which jon snow is saved by deus ex machina knights of the vale who turn up on the exact right moment, because sansa wrote a letter..

I've never been more disappointed and disillusioned with any other critics opinion like this.

Seriously fucking battle of the basterds?

D&D were done with GOT. They phoned it in. The entire 8th season sucked with exception to episode 3 before the battle at Winterfell and the character moments there. I harbored anger after the end and I don't know if we'll ever get the correct end in the books. George R R Martin, Please finish the books.

If they wanted to land Bran becoming king they should’ve developed Brynden Rivers’ background a bit more ( the 3rd eye raven before Bran) Brynden was hand of king to Aegon V, Dany’s grand pa. He was a very sinister character, like Little finger but more ruthless. How GRR wrote Brynden ‘s personality in his Dunk and Egg novellas fits how D&D wrote Bran after the cave. Mysterious, unemotional, creepy. Anyway, Brynden had a motive for revenge against Targaryen rule because when he was hand of King, he murdered a traitor w/o the King’s consent during a diplomatic visit to KL. Brynden got sent to the wall despite Brynden being a respectable hand. After going to the wall he disappeared. I would’ve love to see that Bran became one with Brynden and Brynden’s hate poisoning Bran to move forward a revenge plot to take down Dany. That would’ve made more sense for the show, because it would’ve also showed the gray area in the 3ER. Also Aegon V, was much like Dany. He cared for people and in winter he ensured the North was fed despite protest from southern houses. DD had good elements for a classic GOT revenge plot, but were lazy.

                                                      Character arcs the writers had no idea how to resolve;
Tyrion, John Snow, Melisandre , Varys, The night King, the Hound, Cersi, Jaimie, Dany, Bran, Sansa...that doesn’t even include the characters that were never fully fleshed out to begin with...

Yes, the fundamental failing of season 8 was it being rushed, with main character arcs being under-developed or not developed at all. Dany's slide into madness, for instance, should have started no later than season 7. Arya's character was largely wasted, and you're right, Bran was never relevant or interesting from the season 1.

                                                                              • That Frosty Ape

Season 1-3 were incredibly intricate. They were literally a play by play of A Song Of Ice And Fire. Once George stopped giving input (Season 5 onwards, I believe George had no involvement in), the clever set ups, pay offs and intertwined story arcs started diminishing. I didn’t really like the show after season 4... it just felt, predictable. Characters get dumbed down to build others up and all the lessons characters learn along the way are just straight up forgotten.

It went from a more down to earth realistic fantasy show to an over the top Lord of the Rings style epic fantasy show with over the top camera angles and slow motion. Nothing wrong with that inherently, but its not what game of thrones was to me.
